Venerable Canda on the Myanmar crisis
In this Dhamma talk, Venerable Canda discusses the current situation in Myanmar (Burma), drawing on her lived experience as a lay meditator and as a Thilashin nun in that country. She explains how the Insight Tradition and modern Mindfulness movement in the West have their roots in Myanmar and the debt of gratitude she feels to the lineage of teachers, the people, and the country. She also observes how the Myanmar people's devotion to and depth of understanding of the Buddha's teachings now informs their peaceful activism, endowing them with formidable moral courage and strength, before offering ways that we can help. The talk is followed by a metta meditation and a dedication of merits.
