Southern Shan State

We are deeply grateful for the support and generosity shown by our donors in providing much-needed aid to the war-torn communities of Southern Shan State. The ongoing conflict in the region has displaced countless individuals and left them without access to basic necessities such as medicine and personal hygiene. Through the donation provided by this local group, your contribution has been able to provide essential supplies and support to those affected by the conflict. We are committed to continuing to raise awareness and support for the people of Southern Shan State, and we thank Better Burma for their invaluable contribution in this effort.

Southern Shan State is an area that is often overlooked in the news, but it is currently experiencing a tense military situation. In some areas, only the Tatmadaw and resistance forces are fighting, but in Shan State, because there are multiple ethnic armed forces, there are also many confrontations on various fronts. This ongoing conflict has led to a significant increase in the number of people fleeing their homes and communities in search of safety.

Due to the emergence of these battles, the number of people fleeing the war has also increased. People have been driven into the forest, and medicine is also crucial. Residents of remote areas, even those that are not war-torn, often lack knowledge of personal hygiene, resulting in many preventable deaths. Consequently, we need to take responsibility for protecting war refugees' health. Additionally, chronically ill people are facing medical difficulties because of the time away from war they have spent.

In this dire situation, it is essential that we take action to support these communities and provide them with the resources they need to survive. Fortunately, Better Burma was able to provide us a donation to help us out along the way. Among the basic necessities bought were disposable needles and diarrhea cures. A bag of rice and a bucket of oil were also shared with every household in our region, in addition to the purchase of medicine. In addition to disposable needles, we also purchased items needed for minor surgery.

While this donation is a step in the right direction, it is important to note that much more needs to be done. We must continue to support and aid these communities in their time of need. From providing basic necessities like food and medicine to addressing the long-term healthcare needs of war refugees, every effort counts in this race against time.
