Can you imagine what you'd do if someone else started burning down your house? Would you call the police, soldiers, or firemen? Can you imagine what your actions would be if the soldiers were burning down your house? It is common for such incidents to occur throughout Myanmar.
Currently, Mugyi village suffers from bad conditions following the entry of military council troops. We learned from contacts that military troops entered Mugyi village in Welet Township, Sagaing Division, causing extensive damage.
For their own safety, many rural residents of Mugyi village had to evacuate their houses and property. In order to remain safe, they fled to the camps and hid there. Temporary camps also present a challenge in terms of living conditions. The attackers destroyed their houses, as well as stealing jewelry. As a result, 85-year-old grandmother Daw Aye Kyin died of burns because she was unable to escape when the columns came.
Approximately 105 cows, including domestic animals, have been killed, as well as 170 houses that have been burnt down. Photo and audio files from Mugyi Village residents who fled the war provide evidence of these events.
Better Burma is supporting these communities as much as we can, but at the moment, we don’t have enough given the need. We thank all donors for keeping us in their minds and hearts.
