How just $10 can make a difference!
We are reaching out to you today to bring to your attention a pressing and urgent need for assistance. A brave young woman organizer of peaceful, anti-military protests around Monywa has been helping families in desperate need of help to rebuild their lives and resume farming after the military’s devastation of the area. Even a small donation of just $10-17 can make a real difference in the lives of these families, providing them with some much-needed relief, allowing them to begin rebuilding their homes and livelihoods. The need is urgent, and every little bit helps. Your support could truly change the lives of these families for the better! Please read the full report from our local leader to learn more about the situation.
I recently spoke with a brave, young woman who has been organizing peaceful protests against the military without rest since Feb 1, 2021. She is active in the Monywa area and has been moving from village to village to avoid arrest by the military. She has also helped many villagers whose houses were burned to the ground during raids by the army, losing nearly everything, including homes, crops and cattle. She is now trying to obtain aid for 46 families from one such village in Salingyi Township, on the western bank of Chindwin River west of Monywa. She wants to raise donations to give each refugee family 30,000-50,000 kyats (around USD 10-17), if at all possible. Important people from villages in townships such as Pale, Kani, Ayadaw, Tase, Depayin, Ye-U and Budalin have contacted her seeking aid for villages in their areas that were also burned down. Her organization can arrange donations of material aid like food and clothing as well.
She said the refugees are desperate for help from the international community. Burmese people from Sagaing Region have been a great help through donations as small as a single dollar, but this will not provide sustainable help over multiple months. Please do not hesitate and offer what you can in this moment of urgent need!
