Your Donation to the Kayin Peace Support Network

We have applied some of the donation fund to the Kayin Peace Support Network, who have immediately put this to use in providing food and other urgent items needed by villagers now escaping the military’s incursion. Since the attacks on Kayin villages on March 27th, many entire communities have become displaced and have had to flee their homes to find safety and shelter. The military’s bombing runs killed many Karen villagers, and thousands are now displaced and on the run.

We were pleased to work with the KPSN, which is the largest network of Karen civil society organizations in Burma. A statement of the organization’s mission reads as follows:

  • Its member organizations have been providing support for vulnerable people and communities in this conflict-torn region for decades, striving to empower local communities, build transparent and accountable institutions, and help create a sustainable peace in Burma. The network is dedicated to:
Raising awareness of the peace process and of human-rights issues among Karen communities.

  • Building the capacity of communities to advocate for and realize their rights.

  • Providing practical support for communities to create sustainable livelihoods and improve their quality of life

  • Supporting Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and returnees.

  • Monitoring the peace process.

  • Facilitating consultation and advocacy for a sustainable and equitable peace in Burma.

To donors who have contributed, thank you for your support at this time!
