"Gu Dar Pyin" by Khet Thi
In our variety episode, “Love Letters to Myanmar: Gratitude and Growth,” listeners were treated to a poem by Khet Thi. The intensity and passion of his verses becomes only more tragic when we are reminded that this Shwebo-based poet was murdered by the Burmese military. Although this evil regime may try to take yet more lives, they cannot kill the voice, and they will not kill the movement. We remember his words here.
Like them, we are also the mixed-blood descendants of Pyu, Sak, and Kanyam.
The myth of pure Kshatriya bloodline will mock your idiosyncrasies.
Does our civilized world still permit the deprivation of the dignity of a community?
The community is rounded up and fenced off like animals.
The community has been denied their inborn rights.
The community has no choice but to envy the privileges that others enjoy as the gift of God.
Their very existence is enough reason to protect them for the conscientious people of the world.
There are genocides in Gu Dar Pyin, in Inn Din, and somewhere else,
That took the innocent lives of even children and elderlies.
None of the victims knows what sin they have committed.
But when they meet God hereafter, they could have asked,
“Are we free from hell now?”

သာကီသွေးဆိုတဲ့ ဒီအန်အေက
မင်းတို့ရဲ့ အရူးထမှုကို လျှာထုတ်ပြလိမ့်မယ်။
လူသားမျိုးနွယ်စု တခုဟာ
လူ့တန်ဖိုးသိမ်ဖျင်းသွားလောက်တဲ့အထိအောင်
ယဉ်ကျေးတဲ့ ကမ္ဘာမှာ
ရှိသင့်တော့လို့လား ။
တိရိစ္ဆာန်လို ခြံခတ်ပိတ်ဆို့ထားခံရတဲ့
လူသားမျိုးနွယ်စု တခုဟာ
လူသားတွေရဲ့ အခြေခံရပိုင်ခွင့်တွေ
တားမြစ်ထိန်းချုပ်ခံထားရတဲ့
လူသားမျိုးနွယ်စုဟာ
လူနဲ့လူချင်းကို ဘုရားသခင်ရဲ့ အခွင့်ထူးခံလူသားတွေအဖြစ်
အားကျငေးမောရင်းသာ မျှော်ကြည့်နေရတဲ့
လူသားမျိုးနွယ်စုဟာ
ရှိနေသေးတယ်ဆိုရုံနဲ့
လူသားဆန်တဲ့ အခြားကမ္ဘာသားတွေမှာ တာဝန်ရှိသွားပြီ ။

အတုံးအရုံး သေဆုံးသွားရတဲ့
ကလေးသူငယ် နဲ့ သက်ကြီးရွယ်အိုတွေ
ဘယ်လိုပြစ်မှု မျိုးနဲ့ သေဆုံးသွားရတယ်
သိလိမ့်မယ်မဟုတ်ဘူး
ဘုရားသခင်နဲ့တွေ့ရင် မေးကြလိမ့်မယ်

အခုဆိုရင် ငရဲက လွတ်မြောက်ကြပြီမဟုတ်လား တဲ့ ။ ။
