Preparing for the Dark
I'm preparing for some very dark days ahead, and I think readers may also want to ready themselves for this reality. I think unimagined terrors lie in waiting that will go to new depths of cruelty and disgust.
I'm writing this because I think we need to live in a reality with clear eyes, in known that this will very likely happen and we will need to bear witness to the worst that is to come... and know that we can get through it.
Understand that the dark days are meant to intimidate us. They are meant to break us and crush our spirit. They are intended for us to see the crackdown as so complete and with such impossible odds that despair and surrender to a dictatorial regime is the only remaining option.
As dark as the coming days will be, our resolve needs to be stronger. Meditation teaches us to accept reality as it is and find the best way to respond to those actual conditions that are manifesting. As troubling as it is to face this current reality, deeper acceptance of how things are strengthens the mind in allowing it to respond with wisdom... rather than staying with the aversion to those conditions happening to arise.
This is becoming a war of attrition, with each side trying to starve the other out of hope, funds, support, and able bodies. So as dark as the days are that follow, those who are committed to the Burmese cry for freedom need to do what we can to keep our side sustained. There are many ways you can personally do this: our essays and podcasts give specific ideas for how you can engage, donations are always welcome, and more options are soon on the way.
