Raising the Roof!

We are excited to share another update on the construction of the Chin refugee schools in Mizoram. The project has reached a significant milestone as the roofs of the school structures are being completed using a traditional and sustainable method. This process, beautifully captured in the accompanying pictures, not only provides shelter but also represents the unity and resilience of the entire community.

In these accompanying images, we witness the intricate process of acquiring and assembling leaves from nearby trees to create the roofs. The skilled hands of the Chin community work together in harmony, bundling the leaves and carefully arranging them to cover the completed structures. This traditional technique will then protect the schools from rain and heat, all year round.

It's inspiring to see the collective effort and dedication that goes into this final touch. Every member of the community, from the young to the elderly, contributes their time and work, forging a strong sense of unity and shared purpose. This communal endeavor fosters a deep sense of pride and ownership in the schools, further strengthening the bond within the Chin refugee community.

The completion of the leaf roofs It symbolizes these refugees’ ability to adapt and utilize available materials to create safe and comfortable spaces for their children's education, even while facing the darkest times of their lifetime. Through this process, the community not only constructs physical structures but also reinforces their cultural values.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to each and every individual involved in this remarkable undertaking. Their dedication and hard work exemplify the spirit of resilience and determination that defines the Chin community.

As we celebrate this significant achievement, we are reminded of the continued importance of support and donations. Your contributions have played a crucial role in making this project a reality. With your continued generosity, we can provide essential resources, educational materials, and ongoing support to ensure the success and sustainability of these schools.

Thank you for being a part of this journey of hope, resilience, and community-driven change. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to build a brighter future together!
