Bagan donation ceremony preparations
We’re so pleased that the first donation ceremony is now being planned for Bagan’s monks and nuns as part of our Heartland Relief Campaign. Our local team leader has sent us the following update, sharing the preparations that are now underway for this meritorious event. As monastics have struggled to find proper nutrition for months now, we are pleased to be doing our small part to provide food to ease their living condition. As we will be planning more donation events following this, it is not too late to give! We have not yet been able to reach our goal to provide rice to every monk, nun, and novice in the Bagan region, and so we are still accepting contributions to our cause!
“Dear donors,
I’m happy to share that we have ordered the rice and the rice mill started to load the rice sacks this evening. Now I work on transporting it to the monastery next to [Redacted] Temple tomorrow morning. I will start to share the photos and our volunteers are now working on sewing smaller sacks for each monastic for the next 3-4 days so to get ready for the weekend donation. We expect to be able to offer rice to around 1,000 monks, nuns, and novices for this event.
My team is also inviting the monks from Old Bagan and Nyaung-U. They have arranged the invitation works cooperating with the Sangha Mahā Nāyaka President Monk.
The plan is to donate to the monks and nuns in Nyaung-U at the gathering point of [Redacted] Pagoda in the morning and the ones in Old Bagan at [Redacted] Temple in the evening on July [Redacted].”
