Chin IDPs: An Urgent Plea for Help

Over the course of the past month, we’ve been updating you on stories about our efforts to support growing IDP camps outside of Mindat, particularly those caring for young children, while trying to provide a sense of normalcy for them after the months of violence that have now plagued their beautiful lands and stained their tight communities.

We thank our donors tremendously for your wonderful generosity, as it is thanks to the funds you are providing that some of these camps have been able to manage getting through the days! So please feel contented that you have given something to help in this way, and at this time. We also deeply thank the organizers of the camp, who are taking personal risks in administering aid to these vulnerable peoples, and diligently assuring that all the funds we send go directly to the maintenance of these camps and the betterment of the refugees.

As we have now used all available funds to support their work, we would like to send a gentle reminder that their struggles are ongoing. While it is always uncomfortable to ask for any more support, especially from an audience that has already given so much, we understand their continued needs and know that, sadly, the Burmese military isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, and they will continue their vicious assault on all inhabitants. This includes not only non-combatants, but also children as well. Cruelly, the Tatmadaw actually directs operations specifically towards the most vulnerable people, knowing that by doing so, they can divert resources and attention from resistance forces trying to stay clear of civilian centers. And there are few targets more vulnerable than IDPs and children. Because the local defensive forces do not wage battle with similar impunity, they are often at a disadvantage.

And so our humble request is that you may pass on this message to anyone in your community who might like to help those in need now. If you find integrity and trust in our work, a donation of any amount will be tremendously helpful now, and recurring donations are particular wonderful, as they provide us a monthly baseline, so we can better know what we can depend on regarding the humanitarian projects we support.
