Providing a lifeline to Chin children

Last week we informed you about our recent allocation of donation funds to support the growing refugee camps growing in Chin State, outside of Mindat. The group we are supporting has sent us more images of how these funds were used, along with descriptions of their work and overall life in the camp.

As the photos indicate, one particular camp has been designated for children. Organizers do their best to provide some sense of normalcy to these war-torn kids, offering a mix of classes and education, games and playing, and exercise, all while doing their best to stretch the limited resources available so that the children may have basic nutrition. As they report that they do not have enough funds to assure three meals every day, they do their best to ensure that at least two may always be available.

It is truly tragic to witness a trained military disregarding to such an extent the lives and welfare of their own people. And not just impacting adults, their cruelty is also crushing the future generations of the country. Even those who survive their ongoing campaigns of terror will have a lifetime of trauma to process, and the likely loss of close family members who died during the struggle.

So it is all the more amazing that our local partners in Chin State are working so hard to allow their region’s children a reprieve from the terrible violence they are now facing every day. They do not know how much longer they might have the resources to care for them or how much longer they may keep them safe, but once again, your donation has given them a lifeline for hope, at a time when there is all too little to go around. Thank you so much!
