It's official: Better Burma is tax-exempt

We are delighted to announce that Better Burma is now officially designated a 501(c)(3) organization by the Internal Revenue Service. This means that all donations made to support Myanmar, including those already given in the past retroactively, as well as any going forward, can be claimed as tax-exempt.

This will allow us to cast a wider net of potential donors and grants and put even more support into our campaign to do all we can for the Burmese people.

Most nonprofit applications take a minimum of months, and some even the better part of the year, especially given the delays caused by the coronavirus pandemic. However, pointing to the ongoing crisis in Myanmar and the critical needs now arising, we requested a rush on the application, and our claim was approved within just weeks.

So please spread the good news within your network, and we are very excited to look at opportunities for collaboration and fundraising, and hope that our organization can play a bigger role in supporting the freedom and democracy that so many are now yearning for.
