Meditation in Terror
You might recall the story of the vipassana meditator in the tradition of S.N. Goenka who was risking her life to protect 30 nurses in Mandalay, who were being hunted by soldiers. After using your donation to carefully transfer these nurses into a safehouse, as she became at risk herself after helping these others. We last heard that she was looking for a remote monastery to hunker down in and practice on her own self-retreat.
There is an update that will provide just a little solace to those many meditators out there who have given. She reports that a few days of meditation have provided great comfort to the mind. Additionally, she shares this photo, writing: “They had prayer service last night for the full moon day and I prayed that soon shall there be peace and justice in our homeland.”
May her prayers be answered. Please think of her in your sitting.
