Supporting those in need

We have sent part of your donation fund to a wonderful group that, since 2012, has been building homes for Rohingya communities, as well as providing them with food and other necessities. Once taking on this mission initially, they soon expanded their work to support vulnerable communities throughout Myanmar, especially in impoverished areas.

Once the coup hit, the group found themselves already well connected for years, with those people who were now suffering in outsized ways. So following the military coup, they immediately began going back to these poor neighborhoods, and adding on support to CDMers and IDPs.

Because the founder of the group is Muslim, he keeps a much lower profile than many other organizations, as he fears brutal punishment on the part of the military, and for the most part only accepts donations from Western friends who he already knows and trusts.

Fortunately, Better Burma has been able to make use of this prior existing relationship, so that part of our donation fund is able to go towards those far-flung and vulnerable communities which has no support from any other group. These are exactly the types of projects that we we look for first and foremost, as we want to make sure that your donation goes to those places where the need is the most critical, and who are not receiving outside help.

Our local donation coordinator tells us: “So far, we have been running with our funds but to achieve greater impact with our work, we plan to fundraise more and collaborate with other people and organizations as needed. Please let me know if you are interested or if you want to know more about our work.”

Please consider any donation amount to help his organization continue with its mission!
