Call for aid: Chin State

On September 18th, the Myanmar military launched a brutal attack against towns and villages across Chin State. They opened gunfire and heavy artillery into residential areas of Thantlang Township especially. Over 20 houses were reported to have been burned down by the military. The town has a population of 10,000 people, however most (~8,000 civilians) have fled to seek shelter in surrounding areas, including India. In addition to this, Cung Biak Hum, a Christian minister, was shot dead by the military during the attack. It has been reported that a total of four civilians have been killed and 15 civilians wounded during the attack.

Due to the influx of displaced persons fleeing from the warzone in Chin State, humanitarian aid is of dire need. Food, clean water, shelter are greatly needed for the refugee population fleeing from Chin State. COVID-19 is still prevalent in the India-Myanmar border (Mizoram), therefore the dense population of refugees will lead to a higher risk of spread. Therefore, COVID-19 prevention supplies will be significant and effective in helping mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in these vulnerable and affected populations.

Please consider making a contribution so we can support those requesting urgent medical need in Chin State.
