The Courage of Myanmar's Civil Servants

"The civil servants share their stories to me, and their stories are very traumatic. They share about violence, how they got shamed, and it all affects me very deep inside. So if I don't do any meditation, I can't handle it."

We spoke to one of the key organizers of the Civil Disobedience Movement on our episode titled "Understanding CDM." As someone who had trained civil servants for nearly a decade, she had suddenly found herself in the middle of this crisis soon after the coup broke. With so many lives on the line, she admits she would not have been able to handle the immense stress and overwhelming workload without a background of a meditation practice, where she follows the instructions of Ledi Sayadaw and Mogok Sayadaw.

Soon after this interview was published, the military issued an arrest warrant for her and she remains in hiding to this day. She continues to support CDM workers across the country.
