Education for Children of Defected Soldiers
“My name is Ma Kyi Kyi, the wife of a CDM soldier. More than a year after the coup, my man defected to the people's side from the front line where he was.
When we arrived at the border area, we had to search for food for our family and my children's education while working. For my children to have the opportunity to continue their education, we can try for the children by taking help from relevant organizations.
I was worried about whether we would have enough to pay for the school fees and the things we needed. When the school opened, Blooming Padauk supported the school's expenses, which reduced our burden.
When my husband and I were struggling to pay our children's school fees every month, I couldn't express my happiness when I was contacted by Blooming Padauk that they would support the school fees with the help of Better Burma. Four of my children are students so I got educational support.”
These are the words of Ma Kyi Kyi, who has benefited from the power of donations given to our nonprofit, Better Burma. We have helped many families of defected soldiers, giving them a reason to leave the Burmese military and join the side of the people!
Enrollment in educational programs has benefited 30 children in Mae Sot, marking a significant step toward enhancing access to education in the community. The support provided for education fees plays a vital role in transforming the lives of individuals, families, and the broader community. This financial assistance makes quality education more accessible for those who might otherwise lack the necessary resources, opening doors to personal growth, career development, and improved economic prospects.
Furthermore, the impact extends beyond individual benefits; supporting education fees contributes to the reduction of poverty rates, the elevation of literacy levels, and the enhancement of overall social and economic well-being within society.
The story of a mother, Ma Kyi Kyi, engaged in the program serves as a compelling example. Through her participation, the number of children gaining access to education has increased, demonstrating that financial barriers should not hinder educational opportunities, allowing more children to attend school and shaping a brighter future, and encouraging more soldiers to leave the military behind as they look for a brighter future. Join us in supporting a more positive Myanmar!
