Head Monk Wisdom

“Soon after arriving at Ingyinbin Monastery, we met the head monk U Pannavamsa. He is an old man who has spent many decades, during and after Webu's life, practicing and studying the Buddha's teaching. We greeted and thanked him for allowing us to stay at the monastery. I expected to hear a light reply like: ‘It is our pleasure, and so wonderful that you have come all this way.’ But when the translation came, we heard far more useful and poignant words: ‘You are welcome to stay, but you must meditate. Work hard towards a pure heart and mind.’”
