A Plea to the Military Wife
The following story is made possible from the team behind Breaking Brainwashed. It is written by a Burmese woman whose soldier defected from the military, and who requests anonymity for her safety.
“It is not a sin for loving the military because of our loyalty to our country and people.”
There is no guarantee in life if you become a human being. Even in this moment of change from today to tomorrow, you cannot guarantee what will happen in the evening and after next morning. You cannot even guarantee your belongings, and your lives can be destroyed at any time during this current conflict in our country.
But there are guarantees that you will be able to live a prosperous life and be good in the world when you become a human being. In order to live humanly, you need not only to have standard of living , but also to be mindful of your own ideological thoughts.
It is the responsibility of women to control their husbands from going astray, no matter how great their position may be, throughout the life. There is no unhappy woman when her husband is promoted. But the real happiness is that she is able to enjoy her husband’s promotion without guilt and worry.
However, the privileged wealth gained from the husband’s position can be taken away by the dictator at any time, like the tree on the river side. And the family will be deserted as well by the army with empty-hands, and will only be known by all with a bad name in their mouth. This truth is known to all family members of soldiers in the military.
During the current revolution between the Burmese Army and the people, many high ranking military officers were killed by the people with hatred, and there were massacres between military officers. In addition, we have experienced the oppression between the soldiers’ wives according to the positions of our men and also we had been ordered to do the domestic service of high-ranking officials as a servant. So, I would like to remind the remaining women in the army that their husbands will not be able to maintain their positions forever and can be removed from the positions anytime as they removed the military officers with higher ranks.
It is not a sin for loving the military because of our loyalty to our country and people. But now we must try to take action against the military for killing and arresting many innocent civilians, and bullying people with lack of empathy. During this time, if your husbands in the military are still the servants of dictators, your husbands will be dangerous and become trouble.
