Creating Art to Save Lives
If you are one of those readers following along with the tragic events occurring daily in Myanmar and not quite knowing what you can do to help, please see below to learn about the upcoming event….
As you might have been following along already on our blog, there is enormous need now on the ground in Myanmar, with many communities on their last legs, as they to continue to claim their freedom and basic rights by outlasting the might and cruelty of the Tatmadaw. For this reason, we are calling on the support of artists around the world to offer one or several of their pieces for auction, with all proceeds going to support those on the ground.
We are very pleased to announce that we are collaborating with The Global Movement for Myanmar Democracy (GM4MD) to hold an auction fundraiser. We hope to gain solidarity from art communities from around the world. The event will take place on April 24th,
Artists everywhere are invited to submit any form of art, especially those pieces related to Myanmar or the environment (as Earth Day is April 22nd). What kinds of art can you contribute? As an artist, it’s not our place to tell you what you can create… so we invite you to offer up whatever it is you do best! This can include paintings, drawing, crafts, performance, and anything else that comes from your mind and hands. Think outside the box, and offer up the best that is you!
All proceeds will go to vetted fundraisers that support CDM, Health, and Protective Gear. Donations will be shared among Better Burma, GM4MD, and Mutual Aid Myanmar.
Send your art to this email or submit on this online form by April 22nd.
Please, please share this widely with all of your artist friends, and within further creative networks and communities. Every additional artist will allow us to collect yet more funds, and to involve more potential donors who can benefit from and appreciate this art in their homes.
