"If I go to Bagan, what will I see...?"
While many foreign monks have benefited greatly from the Dhamma of the Golden Land, a surprisingly small number have responded back with an openness of reciprocate at a time when the country is truly in need. Ashin Sarana is one of those whose concern has not been on his own comfort or even safety, but rather the welfare of the Burmese people. In the following short multi-lingual post which he asked us to share, he reflects on how the sacred pilgrimage spots in the country have now been riddled by gunfire and stained by terrorism.
If I go to Kyaik Hti Yoe, Bagan, or another sacred place,
What will I see?
A Buddha?
Or a bullet?
I thought UNESCO protects Bagan... How?
