Arrested and Beaten: A Thabarwa meditator from Poland

This week, the military detained Robert Bociaga, a Polish volunteer at Thabarwa monastery. Robert was especially passionate about the mission to care for street dogs, and built an entire roof to house dogs on one of the large buildings in the Than Lyin compound.

In addition to his deep care for these dogs, one meditator friend notes, “Robert had a very unique character.. He was very bright and funny. He was a free and independent thinker.”

Several nuns and other friends at Thabarwa are making inquiries on his behalf, along with diplomats at the German and Polish Embassies, although it is unknown where he is and what condition he is in at this time. They are especially concerned about him as it was reported that he was “brutally beaten” and there is concern that he is not receiving proper medical attention.
