Ashin Kovida speaks from a Buddhist perspective
Ashin Kovida has made a moral stand and decided to speak up at this moment. The following is a rough translation provided from a Burmese Buddhist who was inspired by this talk:
I saw the video files showing Min Aung Hlang’s army personnel turned into police forces using snipers and who killed civilians one after another. This is a criminal act. There’s certain standard rules to follow to handle the protesters such as using rubber bullets. I saw the photos that shows the police force using snipers to shoot the protesters’ heads until they die. This situation constitutes murder cases. We are appalled the military dared to kill civilians for their business interest.
A couple of years ago, I posted that Min Aung Hlaing could be the worst one among all the previous Army Chief of staffs. He too has children and he will receive the similar bad experience due to his kammic actions for killing of the children of others. The military under the control of late Ne Win have been using the tatmadaw (the army) as their private army to oppress the people since 1962 and successive uprising in 1974, 1988 etc.
People took to street to protest because the illegitimate military snatched the power from the democratically elected government. They used the snipers with binoculars to shoot the people. Those shooters must also have their sisters and brothers. They will certainly receive the same kammic effects.
I have lived in Mandalay since I was 14 years old when I was a novice. I am extremely sad these shootings happened in my favorite city. I just want to encourage people not to give up. These cruel people will fail this time. Don’t retreat and face it with courage.
The enemy army is also dividing hysterically now. The reason being is the military is taking the power for the interest of only a certain group in the army. Thus, to the people of Mandalay, I urge you not to be disheartened but be united and continue your CDM (Civil Disobedience Movement) peacefully.
We all living abroad also have trouble sleeping and eating due to the situation in Myanmar. I wish those who committed murders not face the similar experience. But according to the law of causality, It is inevitable that someone may appear one day and shoot the heads of the persons who shot the heads of others. I ask that Min Aung Hlaing stop killing. Please respect the wish of the people. Why do you want to hold on to the power against the wish of people?
I am also surprised that the whole army knows about the wrong doings of the army and yet no one in the army speaks up and keep silent about it. Aren’t there any good soldiers and captains in the army? Myanmar military is supposed to protect the people but they bought weapons with the money of the country to kill the innocent people. They are now taking the money from the pagoda too.
Min Aung Hlaing is now completely ignorant owing to his power-craze. In this case, I am concerned Myanmar will be ruined. But don’t be disheartened. I am now talking on line just to give you the message that Myanmar people abroad are helping to raise the funds to support CDM.
Be united. Don’t fear. Keep moving forward with your peaceful protest. If you fear, the enemy will come after you more. If you are fearless, the enemy will fear and will retreat. Today, the whole world no longer approves the dictatorship. The people in the world will not be mere bystanders and remain silent about it. We are now financially supporting the people involved in CDM and will continue to do so.
May you all succeed in your endeavor.
