A Call for Volunteers at a Critical Time

Please read below if you are able to support, or know people who can do so.

We hope to significantly ramp up our podcast production at this critical time. For our team of mostly volunteer meditators, the effort to produce even one 2-hour episode takes an enormous amount of labor from start to finish. For that reason, our aim has been to release one episode every 10 days. With the situation in Myanmar now changing so fast and the need for Dhamma wisdom so great, we hope that we can increase our production, and bring the wisdom of Dhamma practitioners and teachers that is so needed at this time. We are also responding to the interest we are seeing in this work now: as our recent interview with Daw Viranani has been downloaded exponentially higher than any other episode we've ever done, it is clear the extent that these types of episodes are needed now.

I am especially motivated to increase production after being inspired beyond words by the Burmese at this time. If they are not stopping despite armed invasion into their homes, this is the very least I can be doing to stand by them in this hour of need, and what better way to do so than to harness our years of Dhamma cultivation in this critical moment.

Perhaps the most important help we can receive at this time is that of a sound engineer, especially one who can have a quick turnaround. We usually divide our work between two sound engineers, but as one is in Myanmar now, he is unable to be involved at this time. Please let us know if you can help us in this way.

Following are other ways you can support our effort:

  • If you have guests you suggest we interview, please reach out. Keep in mind our podcast content centers on providing a Buddhist perspective of some kind, at this time. This could be people connected or knowledgeable about Burmese Buddhism in some way, or other Dhamma teachers able to speak more generally about practice in times of crisis and uncertainty.

  • We are hoping to share our content as widely as possible, which we feel is especially critical at this time. By all means please share across your own social media outlets if you find these of value. But we also hope to reach an even bigger audience. If you would like to volunteer to help through doing Public Relations work, working to methodically reach out to various media outlets of all kind, this would be a major help.

  • Some people cannot listen to a full one hour podcast interview easily, and so we are hoping to bring our content in more bite-size pieces. This can include making short video clips as well as templates with powerful quotations. So if you are a video editor, graphic artist, or general artist, please be in touch.

  • As the situation worsens and my own demands become more overwhelming, please keep in mind I am one person sitting atop this, and I have a lot of conversations I'm managing. For a very responsible and reliable person with time on their hands who is able to assist me as a Coordinator, let me know.

  • We are happy to make any of our content available to speakers of other languages. If you would like to volunteer to translate anything, welcome.

  • Finally, everything we do relies on donations. I can only run this work as long as the dana lasts. So please consider helping us to lead or organize fundraising efforts, or supporting us as you are able.
