Karenni State’s Struggle: A Plea for Lifesaving Support

Karenni State is in crisis. The devastation caused by severe flooding and ongoing armed conflict has pushed this community to its breaking point. Entire villages lie in ruins, fields that once provided sustenance are submerged, and thousands of families have been forced from their homes with nowhere to turn. The combination of natural disaster and relentless violence has created an unprecedented humanitarian emergency, leaving countless people without food, clean water, or access to even the most basic medical care.

The people of Karenni are resilient, but their resilience alone is not enough. With your support, we have been able to support locally based groups who are now delivering emergency aid to some of the most vulnerable members of these communities—families who have lost everything, children suffering from malnutrition, and elders who are often overlooked in the chaos. This aid has reached approximately 1,500 individuals, providing food, clean water, hygiene kits, and medical supplies.

But the reality is stark: this is not enough. The need in Karenni State is immense and growing every day. For every family we’ve been able to support, there are countless more still waiting for help. Hunger is rampant. Children are going to bed with empty stomachs, and mothers have no way to feed their babies. Injuries and treatable illnesses are becoming fatal because there is no access to medical care. The harsh conditions in makeshift shelters have left many vulnerable to disease, and the rains continue to worsen the situation.

The people of Karenni are not asking for luxuries—they are fighting for survival. Right now, many are surviving on a single meal a day, if that. Some are drinking unsafe water because there are no other options. Basic necessities like soap, rice, and clean water have become precious commodities that can mean the difference between life and death.

Delivering aid to Karenni State has not been not easy. Roads have been destroyed by floods, and violence continues to pose a threat to those working to provide relief. Our local teams have braved airstrikes, ground attacks, landmines, and treacherous terrain to ensure that supplies reach those who need them most. In some cases, they have had to evacuate civilians before even beginning to distribute aid. Despite these challenges, the commitment to this mission remains unwavering. We will not stop until every family, every child, every elder has the support they need to survive.

But we cannot do it alone. The situation in Karenni State grows more dire by the day. Every moment of delay means more lives lost, more children malnourished, and more families pushed to the brink of despair. Your contribution can be the difference between hope and hopelessness, between life and death.

Your kindness can bring light to Karenni State, transforming despair into hope, hunger into nourishment, and fear into resilience. Thank you for standing with us in this critical mission. Your compassion is not just a gift—it’s a lifeline.
