Nurturing the Noble: A Lifeline of Compassion for Myanmar’s Monastics

Dear Supporters and Friends,

In these challenging times, the monastic communities of Myanmar— monks, nuns, and novices—remain steadfast as symbols of compassion and hope for many spiritual seekers around the world who has come in contact with them over the past number of years. Yet since the military coup, their once stable lives have been disrupted by scarcity and hardship. Many monasteries and nunneries are struggling with limited access to food, essential supplies, and the safety needed to carry on their monastic duties. Yet, with remarkable resilience, they continue their work, often doing whatever they can to continue helping their local communities.

Thanks to the trust and generosity of our global network of meditators, we’ve been able to extend a lifeline to these monastics. The donations we've provided come directly from funds that dedicated meditators have specifically earmarked for supporting monks and nuns, ensuring that every gift fulfills the intention of those who contribute. Many of our donors share how they are foreign meditators who experienced the profound generosity of these monastic communities during their time in Myanmar, and now feel called to give back. Through our donation trips, we’ve delivered nourishing food and essential items to monks in remote monasteries, supported nuns throughout the country, and provided young novices with the books, stationery, and supplies they need to continue their education.

These donations have been greatly appreciated by those who have benefited from them. One nun in particular shared how receiving these supplies from overseas gave her a sense of connection and solidarity that she had never imagined. For many, knowing that their well-being is cared for by meditators abroad strengthens their faith and fuels their determination to continue their spiritual practice amidst such uncertainty, and extends how they are able to continue helping their own local communities.

We humbly acknowledge that none of this would be possible without you, our generous supporters. Your contributions are not just acts of kindness but deep expressions of the very compassion we all aspire to cultivate. The impact is profound. You have allowed us to ensure that these monastics—whether monks, nuns, or young novices—are not left to struggle alone. Through your giving, you’ve helped sustain them physically, emotionally, and spiritually, offering them hope and strength.

On behalf of the monastic communities, we extend our heartfelt thanks. Together, we continue to show that in times of suffering, there are those who will always step forward with love and compassion. Your support has truly made a difference.

For any meditator wishing to support the Sangha, we welcome your continued generosity. Simply indicate your intention, and we will ensure your contributions reach the monastics, helping them continue their noble path.
