Lucy's Donation

"Thank you for all of your hard work by raising awareness to others with your charity. I would also like to thank you for helping Burma by using people's donations to give the people who live there food and water. I chose to raise money to this charity because my family used to live there before the war started. They planned to leave Burma and come back in a couple of years but the war didn't stop so we live in England now. I did a sponsored read to help family who may still live there and I raised £170! Thank you again, Lucy"

Lucy is in Brownies in the UK (part of the Girl Guiding movement) and did this as part of her charities badge. Her family continues: "It's been heartwarming to see Lucy's passion for supporting the Burmese people growing deeper by doing this project. Our family first left Burma in 1947 to get away from the unrest following Aung San's assassination, and they planned to return when things improved. Instead more and more of our extended family emigrated out over the years both to England and Australia. I always wondered what her connection would be like, but 4 generations on that connection is still going strong."

We are very happy to be now making arrangements to allocate Lucy's donation to support the children who have been displaced by the ongoing conflict in Burma. Specifically, Lucy's contribution will provide much-needed food and water to a group of orphans who have recently moved to a safer rural village outside of Pyin Oo Lwin.

Our team leader has explained how these orphans had to flee their home due to the war, and they are now in a critical situation, struggling with basic necessities. Lucy’s donation will help alleviate their hardships and ensure that the children have a secure place to live and sufficient nourishment during these challenging times.

We are deeply grateful for Lucy's dedication and efforts in raising this money, especially given her personal connection to Burma through her family's history. Her passion and commitment to helping others are truly inspiring, and her contribution will make a significant difference in the lives of these vulnerable children. Thank you, Lucy, for your compassion and support.
