Ground Team Report on Aid Distribution Amidst Ongoing Crisis
We share a donation report from a ground team who purchased and distributed essential food to people who are struggling to survive given the violence now impacting this region. We are so appreciative of the support our donors have continued to provide in our mission! The ongoing crisis in Myanmar has led to a severe humanitarian situation, causing widespread displacement and suffering among the affected population. The actions of the military council have exacerbated the challenges faced by refugees, emphasizing the immediate need for assistance.
We purchased 12 bags of rice, and then distributed them in the following manner:
● Each bag of rice amounts to 4 cans, totaling around 20 packages.
● For every bucket of oil, there are 50 units, equating to 20 bottles.
● We've distributed aid to 133 households.
Travel expenses were covered by community members, and villagers provided us with cars to transport the food supplies. Our teams on the ground are actively engaged in meeting the urgent needs of affected communities. Despite the challenges, our dedicated teams are tirelessly working to expedite the distribution process, ensuring prompt aid delivery to the remaining households.
The military council's stronghold in our region presents a significant and ongoing challenge. With an estimated strength of around 640 personnel, their presence has instilled an atmosphere of fear and intimidation. Reports indicate their focus not only on interrogation but also on arbitrary arrests, exacerbating the crisis further.
The internally displaced persons population continues to grow, intensifying the urgency of our response. More than 400 households are currently in dire need of immediate assistance. This escalating situation underscores the critical importance of sustaining efforts to provide relief to those affected.
Our teams are unwavering in their commitment to addressing evolving needs on the ground. Collaborating with local partners and leveraging available resources, we are actively exploring ways to expand our relief efforts and reach a larger number of households. As the situation unfolds, we will provide regular updates on our progress and the challenges encountered in delivering aid to affected communities.
