The Journey Continues

To all who have been part of our travel to where we are now, your unwavering support and dedication have been instrumental in sustaining our mission over the years. Our story, rooted in the exploration of spirituality and culture, has evolved steadily over the past decade, shaped by growth, transformation, and resilience.

Our platform's origins are humble, born from a deep curiosity about Myanmar’s rich spiritual and meditation practices. More than ten years ago, we began as the Burma Dhamma Blog, a simple outlet to share insights and reflections about the country’s monasteries and meditation centers. This effort coincided with Myanmar's gradual transition towards democracy in the 2010s, a time when the lifting of decades of military dictatorship allowed greater freedom for both locals and international visitors to explore the country's profound spiritual heritage.

As time passed, our platform resonated with an ever-expanding community drawn to Myanmar for its rich Buddhist traditions. This led to the development of a variety of offerings—documentaries, in-depth discussions, pilgrimage guides, and more—all aimed at uncovering the vital role of Buddhism and monastic life in Burmese society. This natural progression culminated in the creation of Shwe Lan Ga Lay, a comprehensive, multi-part guidebook designed to help meditators navigate Myanmar’s complex landscape of Buddhist and meditative traditions.

In 2019, we launched the Insight Myanmar Podcast, a platform to delve deeper into the less explored aspects of spirituality within Myanmar. However, the 2021 military coup dramatically altered the landscape. We quickly expanded our podcast’s focus to address the national crisis, shedding light on stories beyond Buddhism and meditation. We began documenting the unfolding humanitarian tragedy, highlighting conflicts and challenges that were underreported by international media. With this expanded scope, our podcast grew to reach over 120,000 listeners globally, covering diverse perspectives on Myanmar’s spiritual, cultural, and societal aspects, while maintaining our foundation in mindfulness and meditation.

In response to the escalating crisis, we also founded Better Burma in 2021, a nonprofit initiative to provide humanitarian aid to people of all ethnic and religious backgrounds. The atrocities and violence unleashed by the military regime left countless individuals in desperate need, and our initiative is focused on offering relief, healing, and support to those hardest hit by the turmoil. Through Better Burma, we have been able to deliver essential resources such as food, clean water, medical supplies, and shelter, extending a hand of solidarity to those in need.

At this critical juncture, we are committed to making a tangible impact on the lives of the people of Myanmar. The challenges are immense, but through our collective effort, we aim to be a beacon of hope and resilience during these dark times.

We invite you to join us in this mission. If our work resonates with you, we welcome your support in any form. Your donations, whether through a one-time gift or ongoing support via Patreon or PayPal as part of a monthly pledge, will directly benefit those most in need, helping to provide critical humanitarian aid and sustain our efforts to share their stories with the world.

Together, we have the opportunity to make a lasting difference, offering compassion, solidarity, and hope to the people of Myanmar in their struggle for survival and freedom. Your contribution, no matter the size, has the power to bring relief and hope to those facing unimaginable hardship.

Thank you for walking this path with us. We look forward to the day when Myanmar’s story is one of peace, democracy, and human rights for all who call the Golden Land home!
