Supporting Myanmar's Monastics Amidst Crisis

Unfortunately, the monastic community in Myanmar has not been spared from the violence and unrest plaguing the rest of the country since the coup. Monks and nuns have become victims of arrests, torture, imprisonment, even death. Some monasteries have been raided and bombed, while others have been seized and transformed into military bases.

Furthermore, several monasteries have ended up offering shelter and support to refugees escaping the military's violence. Yet at the same time, the economic collapse has also resulted in a severe lack of offerings, leaving many monastics struggling to obtain adequate nutrition. We have shared many of these distressing accounts through our blogs and podcasts.

However, despite these immense challenges, there remain shining examples within the monastic community, embodying hope and resilience in the face of darkness. These dedicated individuals unwaveringly uphold their commitment to the Dhamma, offering guidance and support to those in need. At Better Burma, we stand in solidarity with these unwavering monastics, just as we support humanitarian initiatives from people of all ethnicities and religious backgrounds across the country.

We urge you to join us in this endeavor. For those who have their own meditation or mindfulness practice, let us stand together in solidarity with the monastics who continue to be pillars of their community while embodying the teachings of Buddha. For those who wish to contribute to our monastic fund to assist the monks and nuns who are tirelessly supporting their communities, we welcome donations of any amount. If you have the means, we especially appreciate recurring donations through PayPal or Patreon, as they enable us to provide consistent support. Through our collective efforts, we can bring hope and healing to a country in desperate need!
