Bringing Education

Burmese children have been disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent coup. Many have missed out on crucial years of education, which has had a profound impact on their development. We are supporting one group who have been stepping up to cover this need, and who are requesting a contribution of any size to help with their efforts.

The pandemic has hit Burma hard. Schools were forced to close their doors in March 2020, and many children have not been able to return since. This has had a devastating impact on their education, with many missing out on vital years of learning.

The coup, which took place in February 2021, has further disrupted the education system. Schools have been closed down and many teachers have been arrested or forced into hiding. This has left children even further behind in their education and development.

The loss of education has had a profound impact on the development of Burmese children. Many have missed out on key years of learning, which will have a long-term impact on their future prospects. Many will struggle to catch up and may never reach their full potential. This is a huge loss not only for the children themselves, but also for Burma as a whole.

One local group has been supporting local education initiatives by providing makeshift classes in five schools spread across Karen, Shan, and Kachin states. The funds are used to pay for educational materials for the classroom and students, and also cover the needs of the volunteer teachers.
