The gift of water
Following is part of a report prepared by the local team who has been using some of our donation fund to provide clean drinking water to Chin and other refugees now fleeing in IDP camps in Myanmar. Please take a look at how grateful they are to those who have contributed!
Water is essential for everyone survival as well as for such as nutrition, health, education and sanitation. The support has helped the refugees maintain their dignity and healthy lifestyle.
Due to poor communication systems, infrastructure, and health care system, access to daily commodities in the rural areas remained challenging and difficult. As Mizoram itself has several impoverished areas, struggling and still developing, hosting a huge number of refugees particularly in rural village by the locals without proper support is very difficult and inadequate. There are so many more people who are in the same situation and needed so much support .
Though we are not able to provide more water access support to other areas/villages where the refugees are residing , overall, the intervention of the project meets and helps one of the most vulnerable people who were desperately in need of water supply
