Project Description
Local radio station spreading accurate news and sharing knowledge about democracy and federalism.
Project Purpose
Military junta’s internet cut-offs have left millions of people inaccessible to information. A civilian-run radio station is needed to help people gain access to true and accurate information offline, as the existing stations were captured by the junta and fed with military propaganda.
Project Scope
The radio team will:
Produce news, articles and other programs aimed at countering information blackout and military propaganda.
Broadcast the programs to reach at least 50% of the city in the first month, at least the whole city in the second month.
Increase broadcasting coverage to reach two or more townships outside the city when equipment becomes available.
Share the programs through social media or other platforms to reach maximum audience.
Objectives
The following are to be benchmarked against:
(1) Up-to-date information, factual articles and motivating songs are presented in the desirable quality.
(2) The station broadcast exactly according to its schedule.
Budget
US$ 3,265 will be needed to purchase equipment. A further US$ 260 will be needed monthly to pay for expenses.
Assumptions
Necessary equipment is in Myanmar market till enough funds are collected.
