A visit, donation, and party at an HIV center
Even in the best of times, Myanmar’s health system has been severely challenged. But since the military has begun its full scale assault on its own civilian population, many of these even very basic services are now unable to operate as before, due to a number of factors: medicine and food supplies now shut off, donation funding diverted (and often stolen outright) by soldiers, supporters unable to visit centers due to violence in the street, military corruption seizing supplies and buildings, etc.
So it was with great admiration and appreciation that one such group was able to carry on their work, which included a visit to the NAC HIV Center last week.
There, thanks to your donations, they provided medicine, clothing, food, books, toys, etc. to the residents here. They also led a vocabulary class, art class, activity class, and snack party with the children during your visit, as seen below.
As valuable as these supplies were to deliver in this time of great need, and as critical as your support was in making this happen, nothing is more precious than seeing the smiles on the childrens’ faces. May they be given a reprieve from the terror their military is inflicting on them, and may they be free from this danger soon. Thank you to donors who made this happen, and thank you to the volunteer team for carrying this out.
