Burmese refugees in India

The Burmese military has concentrated some of its most vicious attacks across Chin State this month. As a result, hundreds of people are now on the run, their homes burned to the ground, or abandoned in fear of the wanton beating, abductions, and rape that soldiers are being ordered to carry out. Many of these refugees are now spilling across the Indian border, and our local contacts are coordinating relief missions to support them.

Urgent funds are needed to care for the vulnerable populations who are now fleeing. The following chart is being requested from one local group who is monitoring the situation and supporting a population of nearly 1,000 people who are advancing on foot, with no help from international organizations. While we understand the asking amount is not insignificant… almost $50,000… please note that any amount helps, and even helping to provide blankets or drinking water for one more family, makes all the difference… to that family.

Please share this among members of your community who might be willing to assist at this critical time.
