Webu Sayadaw Monastery in Kyaukse

Webu Sayadaw was one of the great 20th century monastics of Burma, considered by many to be fully enlightened. Teaching mainly a pure observation of breath at the nostrils, he highly encouraged Sayagyi U Ba Khin to teach the Dhamma to foreigners, thus helping to export Burmese Dhamma throughout the world.

Webu first met U Ba Khin in 1941, on this very hill. Little-known and seldom-visited by foreign meditators today, our Exploring the Lineage pilgrimage will bring meditators to this special place and explain the history, before meditating together in a group sitting.
