South Korea relations

Since the Korean War in the 1950s, South Korea has been an important ally of the United States in East Asia. In the 21st century, South Korea has increasingly sought to diversify its diplomatic relationships, and Myanmar is an important partner in this effort. South Korea and Myanmar have a shared interest in promoting regional peace and stability. In 2014, the two countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Defense Cooperation. Under the agreement, the two countries will work together on counterterrorism, peacekeeping, and disaster relief.
