"We just expected to be killed. I was chanting Parittas and praying.”
This is the continuation of a story that was shared recently.
In the morning on May 10 when the military raided the village, Daw Thin Kyi (50 years old) was at her home. When she heard the continuous noises of gunshots, she did no longer dare to stay at home and ran to the village monastery.
Daw Thin Kyi and her husband U Thein Aung were hiding in the crawlspace of the monastery library. They were hearing the noises of the powerful weapons falling on the monastery ground and could also hear the noises of the bullets hitting the wall of the library.
Not very long after, a troop of around 70 soldiers raided and took over the monastery compound. The angry soldiers searched the villagers hiding in different places around the monastery and they were also finally found and captured. The soldiers captured them, separating women from men.
Daw Thin Kyi said, “In that evening, we just expected to be killed. I was chanting Parittas and praying.”
Her husband U Thein Aung was also captured. They both were captured while hiding in the monastery. It was the last time that she saw him in her life. Twenty eight villagers at the ages between 20 and 50, were killed by the demon soldiers.
