Ashin Sarana is a Buddhist monk from the Czech Republic who has spent many years living in Myanmar. He joined Insight Myanmar Podcast twice; once to discuss his spiritual biography and what ultimately brought him to Myanmar, and another time to express his grave concerns about the military coup. He has also authored several essays and op-eds on our site, and has contributed dozens of videos for our YouTube account. Recently, he penned an essay detailing why Buddhism is incompatible with any form of military dictatorship, and he would like to contribute additional writings. There have been many questions by Buddhist practitioners regarding the ongoing crisis in Myanmar, and U Sarana would like to address specific topics or questions they find compelling. He is asking for prompts and requests by readers and practitioners. Please take a moment to submit your questions below, and U Sarana will work on preparing a long response based on your area of interest.
