Loikaw
The town of Loikaw is the capital of Karenni State, and it is the largest town in the state. The town is located in a valley, and it is surrounded by mountains. The town is home to many Karenni people, as well as people from other ethnic groups. There are several Buddhist temples in Loikaw, as well as a Christian church. The town is also home to a number of schools, including a vocational school and a university.

The city was founded in the early 19th century by King Alaungpaya of the Konbaung Dynasty. It was originally a small village called Leikaw. The name was changed to Loikaw in 1885 when it became a district town.
In the early 20th century, Loikaw was an important center of the Karen National Union (KNU), a rebel group fighting for the independence of Karen State. The KNU had its headquarters in the city, and Loikaw was frequently attacked by the Myanmar military.
